Brecksville Photography Towpath Canal CVNP in Ohio
I love getting water reflections whenever I get the chance. I have to get just the right angle to pull theme off.
The Towpath in Cuyahoga Valley National Park is a perfect place to take a walk or get a run in. And it allows for the wonderful photographs.
I can arrange to sell you a high quality version with much better resolution for printing. You can see some of my other photos at my website, Michael Murray Photography. Or, email me at [email protected] or call 800-490-3350.
Towpath Fun Facts:
The Towpath and the Ohio & Erie Canal have a rich history dating back to the early 19th century, when the canal was constructed as a transportation route for goods and people from Lake Erie in Cleveland to the Ohio River in Portsmouth, Ohio.
The canal was a massive engineering feat for its time, stretching over 300 miles and requiring the construction of numerous locks, aqueducts, and other structures. The Ohio & Erie Canal was also instrumental in the development of Ohio, as it facilitated the movement of goods and people throughout the state, connecting agricultural and industrial areas.
After the decline of the canal as a transportation route in the late 1800s, the Towpath emerged as a recreational trail along the canal’s former route. The Towpath Trail is now a popular destination for hiking, biking, and other outdoor activities, offering visitors a chance to explore Ohio’s rich history and natural beauty.
Today, the Towpath and the Ohio & Erie Canal are part of the Ohio & Erie Canalway National Heritage Area, which covers 110 miles of the historic canal and the surrounding area. The National Heritage Area includes parks, museums, and other attractions that celebrate Ohio’s history, culture, and natural resources. The Towpath Trail is a major part of the area, with many visitors coming from around the world to enjoy the trail and learn about the canal’s role in Ohio’s past.
